Wally McMakin


Wally McMakin has been in the investment industry since 1983.  He specializes in financial plans which are consistent with an individual’s present and future financial needs and objectives.  He conducts financial planning and retirement seminars for employees of local and national companies.  He specializes in establishing pension,  profit-sharing, and 401(k) plans for self-employed individuals, partnerships, and corporations.

Wally is a registered principal with Geneos Wealth Management, Inc.  He currently holds his FINRA Series 7, 63, and 24 licenses as well as a Life, Health, and Accident Insurance license.

Wally is a graduate of Louisiana State University. He attended on an athletic scholarship and was a 4-year letterman on the baseball team.  In 2008, Wally received special recognition from LSU when he was named a member of the LSU Baseball Foundation –Era All-Alex Box Team.  LSU also inducted Wally into its Athletic Hall of Distinction (1996) and named him LSU Baseball Alumnus of the Year (1991).   His Monroe, Louisiana high school, Neville, named Wally its Alumnus of the Year (1996). 

Through Wally’s efforts, he has directed more than $1.5 million in donations to the LSU Alumni Association and the LSU Honors College.  He has also actively raised money for the LSU Manship School of Mass Communications, the LSU College of Basic Sciences, the LSU Baseball Coaches Committee, and the Tiger Athletic Foundation.

Wally stays active in the greater Baton Rouge community.  He is a member of the LSU “L” Club, the Tiger Athletic Foundation, the LSU Alumni Association, the LSU Baseball Coaches Committee, the LSU Foundation, the Catholic High School Men’s Club, and the Neville Alumni and Friends Association.  He is past president of the Baton Rouge Area Sports Foundation (2012).

Wally and his wife, Andrea, have four children, Emily, Meredith, Dixon, and Jordan.
